Taking On The Clutter

So it finally looks like I'm making some progress with my home makeover. I managed to empty the bedroom, that alone took two days. The look I'm going for? Well it's not minimalist, I could never keep that up, it's more of a grown up aesthetic as opposed to the student/squatter lifestyle I seem to have adopted.
I've always had a tendency to collect, as is evident from my vinyl and CD collections. Technology eventually made both redundant and they now exist as monuments to my age. In 2016 I got hooked on photography and imagined my living room doubling up as a working studio; I bought loads of kit and for a moment it looked like my ambitions were coming into fruition, but collage took over and my desire to be a portrait photographer quickly faded.

I've come to the realisation that I need to learn to let go, I can literally feel the walls coming in on me and I feel that it's impacting my ability (and willingness) to create. I'm like an overgrown squirrel, except a squirrel gathers for survival whereas I do so for comfort I guess. So it's all got to go.. the music I'll never play (thanks to amassing a huge but more manageable MP3 collection).. the studio lighting I'll rarely use (other than a few useful items, everything else goes).. time to be ruthless!
The act of clearing the bedroom alone has filled me with positivity, I feel lighter already. My space truly is a reflection of me, and perhaps the process of decluttering is something I need to go through in order to encourage growth.
