Our second class of term 1 took the form of a show and tell session. Jonathan asked us to present 4 or 5 images or videos that best represents the themes and projects we're currently engaged in; always an uncomfortable experience for me, but I wasn't the only one who shared this dread. We were all given five minutes to address the group, and to be honest my five was over before I could do too much damage.
I chose to speak about You Fit The Description, Royal Male, My Brother's Keeper and Dangerous Black Men (work in progress) as well as a brief summary of the events which led me to taking the course. There was some positive feedback in the chat window from the group which is always encouraging. We didn't get through the entire cohort this week, that was never intended, but the level of achievement and creativity already displayed by the group has left me feeling humbled and in awe.
Last week Jonathan informed us that there would be regular break-out rooms taking various formats, this week we spoke about our achievements from last week and our goals for the coming week. I'm feeling this idea as it encourages you to monitor your progression and avoid getting stuck in a loop. As a serial procrastinator this ought to be a useful tool as admitting to the same goals week after week is not a good look. In addition, the discussion element will hopefully allow for some constructive feedback, solutions and creative inspiration.
