New Waves is a collection of live streams produced by University of the Arts London, the series offers students an insight into the work and processes of industry professionals.
Season two kicked off in October 2021 with a student-led conversation between artists Ope Lori and Othello De’Souza-Hartley; both were featured in Autograph’s 'Care | Contagion | Community' exhibition in London.
Ope Lori
Ope Lori uses lens based media to draw the viewer in through the ways that looking dynamics, are turned upside down, from positions of power to powerlessness, from being passive spectators to consciously viewing participants. She is interested in the use of aesthetics in making visually pleasing screen images, but which also draws the viewer into the work, by experiencing the image through desire and pleasure, playing with both our social and internal politics.
